Dr. Nehal Shukla
Dr. Nehal Shukla is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia. She is an experienced mathematics educator with a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and over 26 years of teaching across diverse academic settings in India and the United States. Dr. Shukla is highly skilled in delivering undergraduate and graduate-level mathematics courses, developing curricula, and mentoring students in research, critical thinking, and academic writing.
She is widely recognized for integrating real-world applications into her instruction and for fostering student engagement through innovative and inclusive teaching practices. Deeply committed to academic excellence, lifelong learning, and inspiring mathematical curiosity, Dr. Shukla has made significant contributions to teaching, research, and service.
Her research interests span a wide range of areas, including artificial intelligence, mathematical modeling of infectious diseases, mathematics education, and computational creativity. She has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in reputable Scopus-indexed journals and has served as an invited reviewer for more than 100 academic manuscripts. Additionally, she has held editorial roles with various publishers.
Dr. Shukla actively contributes to the broader mathematical community as a judge in national and regional mathematics and research competitions. She has presented at more than 30 local, regional, national, and international conferences and has frequently served as a moderator or panelist. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Council on Undergraduate Research, the American Mathematical Society, and the Mathematical Association of America. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to teaching, she received the Excellence in Teaching Award at Columbus State University in 2022. Recently, she has been recognized by the University System of Georgia (USG) for her exceptional performance at Columbus State University.
Dr. Shukla has also served as a Ph.D. dissertation referee for more than four doctoral candidates and has contributed to academic quality assurance as a General Education Evaluator at CSU during the 2017, 2019, and 2021 academic years.
